Bread!!!!

Today in room 2 we had Mrs Hurly and we made some Soda Bread and some normal White Bread.

Top- the white bread before it was baked

This was the steps to making the White Bread!

Step 1. We put in 3 3/4 Tablespoons of milk powder into the bowl

Step 2. We put in 4 1/2 Teaspoons of yeast into to the bowl

Step 3. We put in 3 3/4 tablespoons of sugar into the bowl

Step 4. We put in 3 3/4 of a teaspoon of oil into the bowl

Bottom- after the white bread was baked



Step 5. pour in 555mls of warm water and mix it in

Step 6. We added in 6 3/4 of a cup of flour and stirred it all in together

After we had poured in the flour we kneaded the bread by pushing your palm forward and pulling it back. It was soft and stretchy and we had no problems. It was very easy to make. we knew it was ready when it was soft and moist. After we had kneaded enough Mrs Hurly put glad wrap over top and put in a warm spot to rise.    

Mt Taranaki

Mt Taranaki

Located:Taranaki, North Island, New zealand also known as Mt Egmont. It is surrounded by dairy farm and sweeping surf beaches to its west.

 

Legend

As the legend stands Mt Taranaki use to stand by Mt Ruapehu hundreds of years ago. Until the ground shook and the sky darkened Taranaki, Ruapehu and Tongariro fought for Mt Pihanga. Tongariro won the battle and the sad, miserable, weeping Mt Taranaki burst out with tears which formed the Whanganui river and was trapped and smeared by the Pouakai ranges. Also people say it use to shand where lake Taupo now is.

History

For many centuries it was called Mt Taranaki by the Māori. The Māori word Tara means mountain peak. Would you believe MT Egmont was named by captain Cook in 1770 when he travelled to New Zealand. Mt Egmont first appeared in 1896.

There you have it Mt Taranaki has been dormant for over 250 years..

Auckland!

Day 1. Today we travelled to Hamilton to stay the night before we travel to Auckland. We went to the mall and I got some new Nike shoes. Then we went up stairs to the movies to watch "Finding Dory" It was amazing and funny. Then we got subway and burger fuel for tea. We took it back to the motel to eat. Mum and I decided to go to K-mart get some decorations and some new iPod covers. When we arrived back we watched the Block NZ which was very interesting then we went to bed.

Day 2. We woke up at 7.00 am this morning to begin our journey to Auckland. Firstly we went out for breakfast and I got pancakes. Once we got to Auckland we went straight over the Harbour bridge. So we could go to dads meeting then we decided to go to Kelly Taltons and the penguins were so cute!!!!! When we got to the motel we unpacked then we went up the Sky Tower. The Sky Tower is 60 stories high. There was a spectacular view!! We went to Typo after and I got a pineapple pen and a awesome notebook. We had tea at a New York pizza place and we got Pepperoni and Chicken. Mum and I then went to the supermarket to get some supply's for the morning. Then we watched the block again and I then watched some Netball on TV then it was bed time!!!!!  

Day 3. Waking up I had a shower and  had my breakfast at 6.50am. As we pulled out of the car park we were on our way to Rainbows End. We were 5 minutes early but it was still open. Firstly we went to all the rides for Harpa but then Dad and I went on the Stratosfear where get higher and higher and you get spun around in circles. ''Can we go on the pirate ship now'' Harpa moaned. Walking up the stairs I began to get the shivers. Then we went on the roller coaster and we went upside down. We decided to go on the Fear fall where you go up 18 stories and then drop that much in like 5 seconds. You where so high you could see the Sky Tower. ''AAAHHH'' I screamed in my head because I couldn't scream out loud. My eyes began to water whith tears of joy that I had completed the Fear fall. But the worst thing of the day was when Georgie and I went on a ride together by ourselves called the gold rush and it broke down when we were on so Georgie began to panic but someone came and got us. Then we went to a Asian restaurant for tea and then we went to bed early since we were leaving the next day. 

How to write an essay

To write an essay you need to have an Introduction, a body and also a conclusion. For example in class at the moment I am writing an essay about the Internet. Also an essay is a mix between a Information report and a Explanation I posted about my Explanation a couple of weeks ago it was about How milk is processed into different products.                  

How to create a blog and post

Hi I'm Caro and I am going to be talking to you about how to post and create a blog using blogger so lets go!

Step 1: Firstly you have to have a google account to create a blog so I will do a blog about that. Once you have signed in you go onto settings and push "Create blog" Then it will pop up with a little screen where it says blog title the it say put in an address. Then you push create blog.

Step 2. To post on the stats on the left hand side their is a bold orange button the says "New post". Once you push that you can blog about what you want to and then post it.

The Horse

Regardless of a horse or pony's actual birth date, for most competition purposes a year is added to its age each January 1 of each year in the Northern Hemisphere and each August 1 in the Southern Hemisphere. The exception is in endurance riding, where the minimum age to compete is based on the animal's actual calendar age.


Colt: A male horse under the age of four. A common error is to call any young horse a "colt", when the term actually only refers to young male horses


Filly: A female horse under the age of four.


Foal: A horse of either sex less than one year old. A nursing foal is sometimes called a suckling and a foal that has been weaned is called a weanling. Most domesticated foals are weaned at five to seven months of age, although foals can be weaned at four months with no adverse physical effects.


Gelding: A castrated male horse of any age. Mare: A female horse four years old and older.


Stallion: A non-castrated male horse four years old and older. The term "horse" is sometimes used to refer specifically to a stallion.


Yearling: A horse of either Female/Male that is between one and two years old Different parts of the Horse

Explanation writing

The past couple of weeks room 2 has been working on Explanation writing. To right an Explanation you need to have a introduction and you also have to describe your topic. Then you explain something about your topic. The conclusion has to summarise the explaining of your story for an example here is Ebonys  "Germs" explanation

Our bodies are pretty awesome right? Day, after day, after day, they work really hard to fight these little invaders called germs.

Germs are actually tiny micro-organisms (living things). There are two main types of germs and they are bacteria and viruses. When people are affected by bacteria and viruses, they often have coughing, sneezing, fever, inflammation, vomiting, diarrhoea and cramping depending on what the illness is. If not treated it can get worser and worser and lead to bigger problems.

Now if I was to look for these germs I would need a microscope to see them. They are that small ( that's really small).

How do bacteria and viruses make us sick? Well they can get into our bodies through our ears, mouth, nose and of course, our skin. We can pick up germs from many different surfaces and even air and these surfaces could be: a bath mat, a remote control, beds and pillows. Maybe even a bag? A bottom of a shoe, headphone=, a drinking fountain. A phone? One of the most common places is a door handle and also a bar of soap. If you take a careful look at a screen of any device you will a least see a few germs sitting there on the screen.

How do we get rid of bacteria and viruses? Well bacteria can be treated by antibiotics from you local doctor.To get rid of viruses from your body you need to drink plenty of water, have plenty of rest and (if need) take a pain killer.

So think how often have you washed your hands today?

The Huia

The past couple of weeks we have been working on information reports. I decided to do it on the Huia. The Huia died out in 1907 but was sited in the Urewera in the early 1960's. It is one of the very few birds where the female and male have a different physical forms. They use their beaks to dig into soil to get at grubs. They are a rare species of the New Zealand wattle bird. The female beak is twice the size as the males.This is what I found out about the New Zealand native bird called the Huia.

The Powelliphanta

The Powelliphanta. Never heard of it and what a long name for a snail! But it is the size of a small orange.

Also scientist believe that the snail could live for up to 20 years. There are 21 different species but more could still be discovered. Powelliphanta even have blue blood "EEWW!" A regular gardern snail only lives for approximetly one year.

Once we ran up the stairs we had made it to the recording studio I met two other lovely children called George and Lottie. I let George go firstand it sounded amazing. Then I got to hear the finished product and it was awesome. I can't wait to the exibition

Milk!

How milk is processed into different products?

Do you Know how important dairy products are to New Zealand? Especially milk! 

Milk is an Emulsion. Can fat and water mix? An Emulsion comes from a lattern word for “Milk”. Milk is made up of Fat, Protein, Lactose, Water, Vitamins and Minerals (Such as Calcium). Milk can only come from a mammal such as a Cow, Goat, Sheep and many more.

The Milk has to be collected from the vat where it is stored after milking. Once the tanker has collected the milk it is delivered to the factory where it is stored in a cooler. Then it is processed into different products like Cream, Cheese and Butter.

In 2011 dairy farms produced 730 million tonnes of milk from 260 million cows. There are 10,500 dairy farms in New Zealand.

Milk is one of the best sellers in New Zealand. If there was no farms there would be no Milk!

Creating Crafts 19/5/16

Shuffling through the door is harder than it looks if you’re nervous. Bunching around the table our ears screamed with pain. “Are we done listening” one ear squawked. As a high pitched voice echoed in the background. Finally we can start. Releasing my hand I grabbed the glue gun and stabbed glue onto the detailed fabric. “AAAAAHHHH” screamed Isabella. “What” said the instructor with a shrill, eager to know.

“I, I, I, I burnt myself ”she replied

“Georgie can you show Isabella where the bathroom is” asked the instructor. As Isabella scuttled to the bathroom. I felt sorry for the kid.

Sitting in my seat she skipped once again back to her chair with a slight smile on her face. “Are you ok” I asked

“Yeah I’m fine” she added

“Thank goodness” I replied

How could this day get any worse?

My Dancing Comps

Yesterday I had a dancing competition in New Plymouth for my new barefoot and it was the first time I ever competed it. Here is my story about the competition.

Waiting nervously in the wings as one of the girls from another class danced her heart out.
"No I'm first " I reacted in my head
As I took the stage the crowed was dead silent and I shivered with fear. The music screamed out of the speaker and my body reacted. Swinging my arm in the air I controlled it to the right speed. I swung my body to the front and their beady eyes watched me like a hawks prey.

I smiled and looked up. I saw the judges talking about something I wondered if it was good or bad. Eager to know I carried on with my dance and I still kept smiling. Kicking my leg high I wish I done it better but it was good enough.

I finished my dance and walked off the stage and got a couple well done and some congrats. Now the stressful bit waiting for the results.

lights, Camera, Action

           

As the mouth chewed our ticket, We were free to go into the movie theatre. Once we had found our seats I shoved my body into my soft, comfy, chair and and forced my hand into some chewy, sour skittles.

Du non, Du non, the music played. The Movies, aren’t usually sold out, but it’s very weird that all the seats are taken.           

  “Nanna whats the time!” I whispered.

“2.00pm” she replied

“So just 5.00 minutes” I added

Omg I’m so excited the movies about to start, But I can’t see in front of me.

I shoved my hand into the popcorn and scoffed a large handful. An oily coating of butter slid between my fingers. It made gripping my coke difficult as i tried to rinse the annoying leftover bits of kernal from my teeth.

“Eeemmm” I sad in my head      

“Shut up I can hear you” Snapped my sister Georgie.

“Settle down” replied Nanna

“Do you want to get us kicked out of here” she added.
